This barn takes inspiration from classic German timber frame design and melds it with a traditional American layout system called square rule. Square rule is near and dear to our heart. Its classic small miters and reductions are instantly recognizable. The system accommodates imperfections in rough sawn lumber, making it both functional and beautiful. The intricate roof is the focal point of the building, and although technically complicated, it takes up the extra roof load that the knee wall from the second floor loft creates. This was another turn key build, for which we designed, cut, and raised the frame, and did the custom carpentry: doors, siding, windows, roof, stairs, and loft.
