This structure was born out of strict design requirements. The frame was to have two walkways in between four stacks of wood. Additionally the footprint was to be 12’x28’. In total, the frame will hold seven chords of wood. Naturally curved braces sawn out of local ash wood give the frame a bold look. Also, taken from the spirit of a turn of the century hay barn, the gable rafters are angled out. Pent rafters traditionally gave extra weather protection over a hay loft door, likewise, they will help to keep driving rain off of this unsheathed building’s gables.
